Do I qualify?
To open a Non-Resident Savings Account you need to:
- Be a Non-South African resident or you have formally emigrated and have a registered passport outside the Common Monetary Area (i.e. Lesotho, Namibia, Swaziland and South Africa)
- Have a minimum opening balance of R50.00

- A certified copy of your Passport authenticated at your overseas bank
- 3 months' bank statements (from a foreign bank)

What is FNB's Top Up and Withdraw service with PayPal?
- FNB's Top Up service with PayPal allows FNB customers to top up funds to a PayPal account via a qualifying FNB account.
- FNB's Withdraw service with PayPal allows South Africans to withdraw funds from a PayPal account to any South African bank account.
What is PayPal?
PayPal is the safer, easier way to pay and get paid online without exposing your credit card or bank account number. Over a 100 million people use PayPal to send and receive money.
What can I do with PayPal?

How do I get a PayPal account?
Simply go to www.paypal.com/za and register.
How do I register for the FNB Top Up and Withdraw service with PayPal?
Existing FNB account holders with an FNB online banking profile should log on to FNB online banking and click on "PayPal Services" on the "Accounts" tab.
- Click on the "Register for FNB PayPal Service" button at the top of the GotPaid website
- You will be redirected to the FNB online banking website to begin the registration process for the FNB PayPal Service
- Select the type of registration either "For Me" or "For My Business"
- Select whether you are registering as an existing FNB customer or as a non FNB account holder
- Follow the instructions on screen and complete the required fields
- Once you have completed the required fields you will be contacted by a FNB consultant to confirm your registration
- Once confirmed you will be able to log onto your FNB online banking profile to access the FNB PayPal Service
- If you are a non FNB account holder, you will also be required to email or fax FNB additional KYC documentation before you can transaction on the FNB PayPal Service
- Once you have logged on to your FNB online banking profile you will need to link your PayPal account to your FNB online banking profile
How do I link my PayPal account to my FNB online banking profile?
- Once your PayPal account has been verified you link your profile by clicking Link PayPal Profile.
- During this linking process you will be asked to confirm the contact information we have for you. This information will be used when reporting each transaction to the South African Reserve Bank.
- You will need to enter your Primary PayPal email address. This is the email address you use to login to access your PayPal account.
- You will be asked to accept the terms and conditions for this FNB PayPal service.
- During the linking process you will be redirected to PayPal in order to log onto your PayPal account. To do so you will need your primary PayPal email address and your PayPal password.
Note: Although most transactional accounts can be used for Top Up and Withdraw transactions, some may not be available based on Exchange Control requirements.
What will it cost?
- FNB charges 1.5% of the ZAR amount per Top Up or Withdraw transaction
- FNB will quote a ZAR/USD exchange rate for each Top Up or Withdraw transaction
- No PayPal set up costs
- PayPal charges between 2.4% to 3.9% +USD0.30 per transaction
- PayPal currency conversion fees may apply at 1.5%

How do I transfer money into my PayPal account?
FNB provides a 'Top Up' service that allows you to transfer funds (top up) from your qualifying FNB bank account into your PayPal account. Simply login to Online Banking and select the 'PayPal Services' menu option.
Once you have registered for the service, you can transfer funds (rand) from your qualifying FNB account into your PayPal account in US dollars, which can then be used to make purchases from PayPal merchants worldwide.
When completing the FNB 'Top Up' service you will be required to disclose the purpose of your transaction and provide contact information to ensure that you comply with all South African Reserve Bank regulations as this is a cross border payment. A Top Up of funds from FNB to a PayPal account may only be used for the specified reason.
NB: A new Top Up is required if these funds are to be spent using PayPal.
Note: The service is not available to Online Banking Enterprise™ users. All FNB Top Up and Withdraw with PayPal transactions are subject to Terms and Conditions.
